I came here for the first time. The parking lot only had one other vehicle in it and it was a small establishment. The employee who seated me, took my order and remained my server was friendly and respectful. The salsa and queso were great. I seen on the menu that they had a large selection of different quasadillas which I loved. I ended up ordering the texana quasadillas which had chicken, beef and shrimp. As soon as I got them, I opened them to look and it looked great and full of meat. However, as soon as I went to pick it up, it all fell apart! It then clicked to me that they used liquid cheese instead of shredded cheese so at this point, I had to roll them up like tacos and they were just super messy. The shrimp were also squishy. I was disappointed so ultimately ate the chips and dip and took the rest home for my dog.

When you walk into a Mexican restaurant and the condiments on the table are ketchup and Heinz 57, that's not a good sign. Food was ok but a bit bland and not as warm as i expected.

El Flamingo is the place! I was waited on promptly. The salsa was very good along with the chips. Everything tasted fresh. The service is great, very welcoming. The waiter kept my tea filled. The tea is great, often times tea is watered down but it wasn't here. I had the chicken breast. Everything tasted fresh and had a wonderful flavor. The chicken was grilled well and was tender. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. I am very pleased with the meal and it was very affordable. The portions are enough for two meals. I took home the rest. I wasn't about to leave it behind. Newton is blessed to have such a great establishment!

Great food at a great price!! Taco Tuesday = $1 per Tacos!!! Service was amazing, our witness was so nice and made sure we were taken care of!!! We will definitely be back again!!

The food is usually very fresh and tasty. However, about half the time, the chips are stale and hard, and the newer waitresses don't seem to check on you unless you get their attention, unless the restaurant is already busy.

I also like that you can get a free ice cream when you're finished eating, but you usually have to ask and it is rarely offered anymore.

We're so fortunate to have this restaurant in our tiny town. Best dishes are chicken enchiladas verde, stuffed avocado (FULL order), taco salad with shredded chicken, street tacos (carne asada), and beef fajitas.

Thursday lunch special was Chicken breast served with rice and refried beans. Chicken breast had onion, bell pepper, and diced tomato on top of the chicken and then covered in queso cheese. Yummy! This was a big lunch and it was very filling to a 6 ft guy. Chips and hot sauce was very good. They use real tomato, onion, and cilantro in their hot sauce. To top it off, the waitress offered a free cone of ice cream in Chocolate, Strawberry, or Vanilla. I got the Chocolate/Vanilla scoops because it was tough to pass up one for the other. The lunch special was $8.99. Wife and I ordered the same thing and yes…we would drop in again. Thanks El Flamingo for doing great with the lunch.

My mom and I enjoyed our meal. The service was prompt. The chile relleno was very good....I went with cheese sauce only on top.
Momma loved the tea. A+
The only downfalls were the parking lot... not marked at all. There is a stump in the cement, which is a trip hazzard. The stairs inside make it hard for an older person to sit in the (easy to get in) lower level...if they need to use the restroom. The ramp is outside,but it takes you to the upper level... but seating is downstairs, on the lower level.
Other than that the food and staff are great.

I have really enjoyed El Flamingos until I picked up my last to go order. I ordered Taquitos Mexicano $10.99, 2 Plain Beef Tamales I let them know I didn't want chili, queso or anything else. When I arrived to pick it up & she told me the total I couldn't believe it. $21.10!!!! So that's 2 little Tamales for $10.00 I think not!! It will never happen again. I tried talking to the girl at the register but she didn't really care.

El Flamingo is a great place for family and friends to gather. The servers have been friendly both time that I have been there and the food is good, for Tex-mex. Their prices are about in line with most other Mexican restaurants. El Flamingo is a good value for the money.

Best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. It's a small town family owned restaurant that really is a Southeast Texas hidden gem when it comes to eateries. By far one of the friendliest atmospheres I've ever experienced and the food is incredible. They also give free ice cream to the kids with every meal. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered the beef enchiladas with a spicy sour cream sauce and shrimp over Mexican rice covered in queso.
The chips they servedI will start from the inside out of the enchiladas. The hamburger meat inside was greasy with no seasoning at all, very bland. It was wrapped in a slimy greasy flour tortilla and then smothered the most awful sour cream sauce I have ever tasted. It looked like sour cream had been mixed

Hands down the best place to eat in Newton, Tx as of right now. Food is highkey awesome sauce, and the queso is the nectar of the gods. I have genuinely never had better queso in my entire life.

Great little restaurant in Newton TX. The grilled fish street tacos were excellent. Salsa and chips fresh and tasty! Definitely a must do if you're in the area.

Stopped here for a bite to eat. Was greeted and seated right away. The young girl that seated us was also our waitress. She brought out chips and salsa and took our drink order. We ordered the chile relleno plate with a soft taco on the side and the green chicken enchiladas; all was promptly served. The chips were fresh and crunchy, the salsa tasty. Our main dishes were good and plentiful. Good food and excellent service.

We called ahead for a to-go order of chicken enchiladas for our first visit. They were stellar. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and so delicious. We will definitely be back.

Eaten here numerous times and every time it has been some of the best service and best food I've ever experienced while eating Mexican. I'd recommend driving to Newton purely to eat there.

The salsas are wonderful. The chips are a little thick for my taste, and they lose some crispness. My burrito was very salty, and I did not care for the ground beef. The rice was a bit salty. My husband's nachos mexicanos was wonderful!! My moms chicken enchiladas were wonderful as well.

Food was good first week. I have ordered take out five times since they opened, the first being some of the best carnita tacos I have ever put in my mouth. Ordered the same thing every time with very different results.. the fourth order not even correct. This last plate I have got from them is horrible, nothing but fat/onions/grease in a flour tortilla.. not even the slightest leaf of cilantro. I sincerely hope they can work out the kinks of starting another restaurant in a new town. (If you order take out prepare to wait and extra 20 t0 30mins after you get there, has happened every time whether they are busy or not.)

I was pleasantly surprised finding the gem "El Flamingo as a vegan in Newton, TX. The staff was awesome and very attentive. This is an authentic Mexican kitchen. I was very pleased with the delicious vegan friendly plate. GF Fluatas made with patatoes mushrooms and spinach with side of Mexican rice and refried beans. ( no lard in the refried beans). It also came with a side of fresh avocado and pico de gallo and cabbage. I could not resist when they brought the mouth watering plate of: Crispy VEGAN GF Potatoe, Spinach, and Mushrooms FLAUTAS!
