Mexican kitchen & bakery, breakfast all day
This is the main place my husband and I crave when we're away from this part of Texas. The ambiance is cozy and cute, everyone is friendly, and the food is a 10.
It's always delicious, I've never had anything disappointing here, I'm sorry to make deciding more difficult but you can't go wrong! The mole enchiladas and tortas are my favorites so far 😍
We finally took my husband's family here, who were wanting more authentic and delicious food, and they've been raving about it since!

I travel all over Texas ...weekly. I've had a lot of bad Mexican food so I wasn't expecting too much from this place in the little town. However, I was pleasantly surprised. We were warned that the salsa could be really hot... it wasn't. At least not for our taste. I found the black salsa to be especially good. The staff were all very friendly and the food came out promptly. As for the food, I found the chicken fajitas to be very good along with the beans and rice. My friends had the green chicken enchiladas and the Huarache. Both reported the food to be great and were as surprised as I was. All in all, I definitely recommend this place. I wish all my experiences were this good.

I love this place. Been coming here for several years as many as like 8-10 years And the breakfast has always been stellar.Food's good services, great, small quaint place. Gives me a sense of old mexico in the middle of texas.
Today I was treated by the owner. She's an older lady that cooks incredibly well.

I really wanted to try it because it's a recommended local restaurant, but I have to walk away with just an average rating. The best thing is that the people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice enough. However, the food portion seems small, especially for the price. I paid $12.99 for the combo fajita plate that barely had any beef and no guacamole (costs extra). It came with flour tortillas, which I didn't try. I didn't like the rice or beans, but took them home for someone else to eat. Also, the chips and salsa are not free, but good. The green and roasted salsa are delicious. The red one is not spicy at all. The soda was $2.25 per can. You can try it for yourself, because everyone has an opinion.

Such a highly recommended disappointment. I've lived in Venus 4 years and not sure if its the weekends or what. The asada is always overcooked I just spent 50 bucks and my family is asking why are these tacos so crunchy. Last time I got a torta, crunchy asada. This is our last time coming here, but just want people to know authentic food doesn't always mean its cooked right. I always feel like I'm eating meat from the previous week when I eat here.

Food is still great! We went last weekend. Their menudo is the best. Also ordered their chorizo and egg burritos. Very good.
The food is great. The place is clean. Waiters are friendly. Menudo is the best. It’s a nice little place. You should give it a try. We drive from Arlington to Venus every couple of months to eat here and we have never been disappointed.
However Now that the place has been there a while and it’s not a secret anymore so the tables are super wobbly from abuse.
I know it’s hard to run a restaurant, but the owners should spend a few bucks on some tables otherwise someone like myself might slightly bump the table which would cause a tall Mexican coke bottle to tip over and hit a big glass of tea and spill it all over the floor. 🥴 Ugh! Sorry about that.
The two tables we tried to sit at were very wobbly. I can take a little wobble on the tables but these were BAD! Almost to the point where I don’t want to come back for fear of getting a bad table again.
We will be back and hopefully the tables get fixed or replaced.
Fingers crossed.
The food is really good!

Absolutely loved this place and location. I had already been to their Mansfield location and decided to venture out and go all the way to Venus Tx just for fun, it was well worth the drive. Their food is delicious and so authentic! They also have Mexican pastries (pan dulce) a lot of variety, the staff was so friendly and attentive. The aesthetics are so cute, makes you feel like if you’re somewhere in Mexico. I highly recommend any of their locations and their pozole, was on point by the way.

We got there just after 1pm on a Friday. Three workers standing around. One other table with customers. Couldn't hear ourselves think over the music. Ordered at the counter and were instructed to sit at any (dirty) table we liked. We were told 2x the guacamole was about to be made fresh to go with the chips and salad/queso we had to pay for. I had chicken and cheese enchiladas with queso. Very little filling, so just flour tortillas and queso, all lukewarm. The 1/2 cup of guacamole arrived as we were finishing our meal. First and last time we'll go there.

Not A typical restaurant. Go to the counter and order. They do bring you a drink and your food but they don't check in often and we had to get up and get napkins and ask for a to go box. Which is fine we just didn't expect that. I loved the food it was more traditional Mexican not TexMex so my family was a little meh. My daughter loved the chicken quesadillas. I had the elpastor street tacos and they were excellent. MY HUBBY HAD THE CHEESE Enchiladas, his only complaint was too much creme. My son ate all of his CJ nachos. The family said chips were a little too hard. Sorry forgot to take pictures!

Great place to go to get authentic local Mexican food. Dining in is certainly a better choice than ordering to-go. The food is quite expensive for the portions that you get, but the flavor and taste makes up for the price. The churros are a personal favorite of mine as I order them by the dozen at least once a week.

First off you have to order at the bar so they expect tips but you have to pretty much go to the bar if you need anything, and they call themselves a restaurant. we had invited a friend with two young children 2 and 3 years old. They were very messy as children are, i requested a broom and dustpan and some of the bar staff were reply nice and reassured me that it was their job they would take care of it so I left an extremely good tip cash for their troubles however as we were about to walk out the door the cook who was drinking beer walked over to the table and was staring at the chips under the floor add shaking his head with a very frustrated expression on his face. The food was stellar I just wish we wouldn't have been shamed and maybe he'd known what kind of tip I left the girls in cash there's no need to Children shame people.

I have to say I've eaten it a ton of Mexican and South American Cuban and other food establishments but this was truly a treat.
The food was very well made and you could tell that they use high quality ingredients and they really care about what they're presenting to the customer.
Everything was fresh hot tasty and it was made to order and brought out quickly in the service was exceptional.
Such a neat little location in the downtown area in the corner building. Beautifully decorated and a pleasure to dine in.

First of all, food was very good. We ordered chilaquiles, chile relleno, huarache, quesadillas, quesabirria tacos, and a torta. Everyone enjoyed their food. Staff that took the order was friendly and helpful. Older gentleman that brought the drinks was a different story. When we told him that we were missing a drink, he very rudely said that all the drinks ordered were already brought out. We pulled out our receipts to show, and he waved us off and walked off to get his bar tickets. His bar tickets showed the same amount that our receipts showed yet he still argued and said we were wrong. This went on for about 3-5 minutes. I took it as him accusing us of trying to get an extra drink without paying. This was our first visit to this restaurant and this location. We really enjoyed the food, so we will probably be back, but this experience will affect the future tips as it’s taken before you receive your meal.

Super delicious. I'm not a fan of Mexican food but this place is GREAT!!!! ( 5 stars in 2019). However on my last visit in May 2023 the food was precooked and put together when ordered. It was rather COLD, definitely not the temperature of a meal that was just cooked. Besides, it was served when I returned from the bathroom and I had just placed the order before I went. I think that, sadly, they are sleeping on their laurels.

I've been eating at this restaurant for 3 years now. When I started, it was amazing, both service and food. I've been twice in the last few months and something has changed. Maybe new management or owner but the portions of the food were half and the service was very scattered, as if they didn't have a system down. The first time I went and this happened, I thought that it was a fluke and tried going again a month or so later. Same experience. If they did change ownership/management, I'm very sad to see what they have done to a once great restaurant.

Usually a great place. But don't come an hour and 1/2 before closing on Sunday. It was the youngsters with no senior cooking staff. They ran out of rice, the refried beans looked to be under 2 tablespoons, no potatoes ( supposed to be subbed for rice), and the fajita meat was very skimpy. I pretty much got a sauce drenched set of tortilla chips with 1 scrambled eggs, and a sprinkling of everything else. Supposed to be fajita chilaquiles. Message to owners, the younger workers are not ready for upset customers.
