Villa del Mar Restaurant Weslaco

Very lovely establishment, very clean, very luxurious. Lighting and light fixtures were beautiful. There very nice interior was definitely matched by there food quality and service. The menu had a wide variety of choices/pictures and some even seemed a little exotic. The service was great, I kept getting checked on in a non disturbing manner. I never had to go thirsty. Everything I asked for they provided. I highly recommend this lovely establishment.

This place is so cute! The atmosphere is very relaxing, the staff is so nice and respectful. Management is on duty and attentive. The food is great, I love coming to eat their freshly fried fish. We came for dinner on Friday evening. We were seated promptly, but then waited about 10 minutes before a server approached us. She said they were caught up in the kitchen. We waited another 10 minutes and she came over looked over her shoulder the whole time. She looked very rushed or maybe overwhelmed. 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

We placed our food order when she got our drinks. My son ordered tacos minus the beans and they were brought with beans, we sent those back and they fixed the order, he had asked for sweet tea and got lemonade, but he still drank it. When he asked for a lemonade refill, he got sweet tea. 🤦🏻‍♀️My daughter ordered a cucumber margarita, but after waiting about 5 minutes, she was told the blender broke down, so they couldn't make that for her.

Besides that, the food was good and our server did seem to be trying to do a good job. I'll probably go again to add more stars. They have a kid's menu, as well. 👍🏼

FYI* The full menu is in Spanish only and our server only spoke Spanish. I'm not sure if this would be an issue for non-spanish speakers. I had to translate for my family, but if I wasn't there, they wouldn't know what most of the items in the menu were.

Amazing place would come every day. The sever was nice, the decorations really fit the atmosphere. Also the food was amazing the hot sauce is really good.

Ate and left no crumbs... Literally, my sister ate the whole fish.

One of the best Seafood restaurants in Weslaco. Nice environment, usually not too busy. Good service with complimentary tostadas, dipping sauces, and seafood consomme. The main entrees are moderately priced and worth it! Seafood tastes fresh and delicious. Platters include salad and veggies. The mixed veggies are boiled--maybe they would taste a bit better grilled. First time eating here, and only 2nd winter being in the valley, so still discovering places. Food was ok, very pricey for what you get, you get charged extra for using your debit or credit card vs paying with cash, being of non Hispanic origin we had to download the menu to our phones as they did not have english menus. Service was ok. Probably will not return as we spent $42 for two Reynosa Tacos , which you get 4 small ones, some type of broth for soup and chips with salsa and refried beans.

Food was good but this location is not what expected. I have gone to other locations in the valley and this had to be the worse one. The servers were nice but the manager was not understandable to make the customers happy. They want to charge you extra for everything, I ask for additional crackers and they wanted to charge you a dollar for each packet of crackers. I understand the extra on substitutions of dish or entree. I have gone to other locations and they do not charge for extra limes, totopos, crackers etc. They probably even charge for napkins too. And I ask for manager and instead of trying to make customer happy, she said No right away and was thinking of the price of crackers bc she didn’t know it. She had no manager skills of communication. Never going back.

My wife & I loved it. Everything we tried was delicious 🔥 I loved the fried fish. It was golden and crispy. My wife loved the flavors of the shrimp cocktail, stuffed avocado, and the stuffed crab 🔥 I really like how they have a nice selection of items to choose from on their kids' menu. Their fries, onion rings, and refried beans are very good. I was impressed. I love the atmosphere and their decor. I can't wait to come back and try other things on their menu. Highly recommend

I keep forgetting you cannot order fried shrimp with cocktail sauce at a Mexican restaurant.

Please all valley restaurants perform an internet search for shrimp cocktail sauce. Globalky, i know there are different recipes. My simple favorites are from NYC or Chicago. Ketchup, fresh horse radish, and a splash of Worcester.

-Micheladas were good, too
- Shrimp in Chipotle a la crema 10/10
-Crema de cilantro added to the fish and shrimp plate 10/10. The salsa made that plate 10 times better
Tacos Reynosa (don't quote me on the name) 10/10
-Caldo de mariscos 8/10 - it was good but not great
- Fajita plate 10/10 a little heavy on the veggies
- Octopus al ajo 5/10 too heavy on the veggies and not enough Octopus and the Octopus did not have flavor
- Kids burger added bacon and veggies 10/10
-Coconut shrimp with a jalapeño mango sauce 10/10
- Calamari 8/10
- Kids chicken nuggets stayed, so idk about that
-Tostada de Device 9/10
The only thing I will say is that the fountain drinks are charged per refill, and the cups are not big and they also don't let you know they charge per refill

If you want fish to be at a Crispy Crunchy perfection, visit villa del Mar in weslaco tx off of the expressway 83. The food is delicious. It has the perfect amount of seasoning and Crispyness. The rice is great very flavorful.
The attendants are very friendly and on top of their duty.

Went for my daughter's birthday never again.
1. Servers could not find a place to seat us and the place was empty.
2. We wanted 1/2 corn and 1/2 flour they said It was extra, they are packaged tortillas all they have to do is heat them up.
3. We're charged a 14.00 automatic tip and server only came twice.
4. Management needs to wake up or it's going to be out of business quick.

We happened to be in the area and stopped in for lunch. I ordered the fish and shrimp soup tlalpeño. The medium - sized bowl comes with a side of rice and was FULL of shrimp, fish and vegetables with added Chipotle, avocado slices and mozzarella! It also comes in a large serving but I don't think I could have finished that! My partner ordered the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp are crispy and it is served with fries, salad, broccoli, cauliflower and toast. Needless to say, Villa del Mar did not disappoint! We'll definitely come back!

We came in Monday evening on Memorial Day. I really wanted to like this restaurant because is so close to my house but it’s been terrible. The whole fried Tilapia had a rank smell and tasted muddy,it left a greasy taste on the palate of my mouth so bad I just couldn’t stomach it, same with fries.The plate was big , everything was piled on; rice , vegetables, salad and toast but blunt and tasteless. The complimentary consomé was luke warm and the beans and chips just ok .didn’t taste fresh . The seafood tower was good but enough to make up for everything else . When the waitress brought out the appetizers we still didn’t have cutlery and after we asked for it we had to wait for her to punch in an order in the computer before she bring them. The restaurant had three tables so it wasn’t busy.Overall for 70 dollars spent I felt like I could’ve had a decent dinner that I could actually enjoy . I’ll definitely go to Muelle 37 for seafood in the future , their food is always fresh and delicious. I wanted to give this restaurant a try but I won’t be going back again .

So my husband is the type that isn't picky. He ordered the fried fish plate. Immediately after cutting in to it. The rank smell of old fish! Shrimp weren't fresh either. We told our server and he claimed he would inform manager. Couldn't even get the manager to at least apologize. We weren't asking for free anything, buy a simple apology would have been sufficient. Do not recommend!

The fried fish is good.
The caldo de mariscos tlalpeño is delicious.
The tacos to much extra oil on the tortillas, with silantro and onions for maybe one taco.
The ceviche, looks great, but no flavor (at least when we went) didn't even tasted it had lemon.
The margaritas, are good for the price.
The shrimp cocktail had to much extra tomato sauce. If don't want to use clamato, diluted.
Beans and ships are great.
Tortillas great.
El tabasqueño (fish) was great.
Lemonade good.
Service very good service.
*note cheft not willing to alter the menu even if paying difference.

Unfortunately can not give a review on food, however, 1 star for service and forgetting to put in our order. We sat patiently until finally we got our servers attention, she spoke Spanish so possibly a language barrier but still no excuse as we gave her our order in Spanish as well. Service was non existent as she forgot we were there in an almost empty restaurant. Will not go again, first impressions are key and this was not that.

The food was great. This Plate was for 2 but it could have easily fed 3 people.
It was my first time there and I wasn't disappointed.
